Robert Burns

Born into a poor family in the little town of Alloway on the west coast of Scotland, Burns spent his youth working on his fathers farm. He wrote poetry which was eventually published when he was 26, and became an instant success. He went to Edinburgh and was lionized by literary society as a ploughman poet.
